Guin Mundorf
Providing Powerful Legal Representation to Public Schools

Special Education

When developing and defending an effective Individualized Education Plan (IEP,) maintaining a positive balance between student development and parents' expectations can be challenging. The special education law advocates at Guin Mundorf help education institutions resolve conflicts arising from an Individualized Education Plan before they resort to litigation.

Through working collaboratively with parents, the Office of Civil Rights and other involved entities, our lawyers help clients successfully resolve conflicts and develop IEPs that satisfy the needs of each student. Our lawyers have experience advising on special education plans for children with a range of disabilities and handicaps such as autism, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, bipolar disorder, ADD, ADHD, ODD, behavior disorders, among other issues. While we encourage open communication with parent advocates as a first resort to settle disputes, when necessary, we utilize our years of accumulated trial experience and expertise as special education law advocates to provide clients with a vigorous defense.

Our special education services also address:

  • Developing behavior improvement plans
  • Due process issues that relate to placement services
  • Parental appeals
  • Determining discipline
  • Resolving and preserving confidentiality
  • Representation before office of civil rights, due process hearings
  • Functional behavior assessments
  • Compliance with state and federal mandates including Title IX and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
